Assessment of initial skills

Degree course Chemistry

Initial preparation is verified through a compulsory test in which all students enrolling on the programme must participate. A low mark/failure of the test does not preclude the possibility of enrolling; equally, passing the test does not earn any academic credits. Students who do not pass or do not take the test are assigned additional educational obligations to be satisfied before taking exams and in any case within the first year of the course. Those who, at the end of the first year, have not fulfilled the remedial obligations will not be able to sit exams. Material to prepare students for the initial skills test is available online via the DIR platform.

The online test consists of a questionnaire that includes 10 questions relating to the understanding and use of scientific texts and 10 questions regarding basic representations and notations of mathematics. To pass the test, at least 50% of points must be gained in each part: if either or both parts of the test are failed, additional educational work will be set, via remedial courses. A self-declaration or certificate that proves a similar test has been passed in another university may be taken into consideration as an alternative.
